Bakkaflöt River Rafting tours emphasize providing entertaining guidance of the highest quality. All of our guides are internationally certified and we have rafting experts from Nepal, whose experience is unique here in Iceland.
We offer a variety of accommodations; Guesthouses, Cabins, Holiday homes and a Campsite.

Our story
Klara Jónsdóttir & Sigurður Friðriksson first opened the doors at Bakkaflöt in 1987. Since then, the company has grown to become a well-established activity and accommodation base in the heart of Skagafjörður.
Location
Bakkaflöt River Rafting tours are located in Skagafjörður, North Iceland, 12 km from Varmahlíð. It is around an hour’s drive from the capital of the North, Akureyri. Skagafjörður offers a variety of adventurous and cultural activities. It is an ideal place to embrace Icelandic nature, get to know the Icelandic horse and enjoy adventurous activities for the whole family.
