Our story
Klara Jónsdóttir & Sigurður Friðriksson first opened the doors at Bakkaflöt in 1987. Since then, the company has grown to become a well-established activity and accommodation base in the heart of Skagafjörður.
We have a variety of accommodations to suit everyone. In 2011 we built 5 nice cabins with en suite facilities for those wanting their own privacy with a great view.
1993 was the start of the river rafting operation. Today we have 5 professional raft guides from Nepal and a few Icelandic raft guides as well. In the last years, we have added more activities, paintball and sit-on-top kayak trips down Svartá.
Bakkaflöt is a family-owned company and now has the siblings Finnur and Signy stepping into the company as well. We are proud to have the same staff come to us year after year, both from abroad and here from Iceland.
