This round trip of Tröllaskagi peninsula features a unique view of Icelandic nature. And short stops at the regions major culture and historic sites. In addition to visits to some interesting manufacturing sites.
Ektafiskur in Eyjafjörður - A modern fishing village and fish factory. There you get a taste of Iceland's ocean treasures.
Dalvík-Ólafsfjörður-Siglufjörður - We continue on through other major fishing villages in the area and dine at Kaffi Rauðka Restaurant that is situated inside an historic fish factory.
Hofsós - This small village is an important site in the history of Icelanders emigration to the West. Here you will find some of the oldest houses in Iceland. Hofsós also features a small geothermal public swimming pool famous for it's poolside view over Skagafjörður.
Hólar in Hjaltadalur - A place of learning and culture that dates back to the 12th century.
Sauðárkrókur - A guided tour of Atlantic Leather factory. A wool-skin and fish-leather tannery. This is the only fish-leather tannery in Europe.
We also stop at a small brewery before heading back to Bakkaflöt where we dine on genuine Icelandic cuisine. You can also take to the hot tubs before bedtime.
Reykjafoss and Fosslaug - Reykjafoss waterfall examined. And a dip of the toe into Fosslaug, a natural hot pool. Be sure to bring your bathing gear.
Víðimýrarkirkja - One of a few turf churches preserved in Iceland. Architecture that is a rare sight.
Glaumbær - This is one of Iceland's best heritage museum. A guided tour of the museum is optional.
Dairy Production Farm - For contrast and perspective we go from the museums historic dairy production to a modern production farm.
Akureyri - The journey ends where it began.
