Last weekend in September
A True sign that the winter months are on their way. Each year the Icelandic horses are set free to pasture on the grass in the Icelandic mountains. During the final week the horses are rounded up and gatherd together for sorting to be sent back to their home farms for the winter. The horse round-up is the highlight of the rural calender in many of the countryside regions of Iceland.
The main attraction of the round-up the sorting of the horses around 11 A.M. on Saturday morning. Then strap on your dancing shoes for the round up party in the nearby town of Sauðárkrókur.

We will pick you up from the international arrivals at Keflavík airport. We then drive you north to the Bakkaflöt guesthouse where a freshly made bed and a home cooked meal are waiting for you. After dinner you can unwind in our hot pools and keep an eye out for the northern lights.
